Coventry City goalkeeper Stuart Moore will be leaving the club when his contract expires this summer.
Ben Wilson and summer acquisition Brad Collins are competing for the role of Mark Robins’ primary goalie with Coventry City this season. In 22 games, the former has recorded five clean sheets, while the latter has managed seven in 23.
Stuart Moore, 33, has been the backup option in the meanwhile. This season, he has only appeared on the bench three times and has not played once.
Coventry Live’s Andy Turner reports that Moore “will be leaving” this summer following a campaign in which he saw no playing time. At the end of the campaign, his contract expires, and it is not anticipated that it will be extended.
His three years with Coventry City, during which he made 46 appearances and maintained nine clean sheets, will come to an end with this.
Moore should not have too much trouble finding a new club because he has a ton of experience in both League One and the Championship. He’ll be looking for more playing time than he’s received with Coventry City this season, wherever he ends up next.
Starting afresh
He may now compete for starts in a new setting, as Collins and Wilson are both ahead of him in the Sky Blues hierarchy, thanks to a move elsewhere.
It might indicate that Coventry is looking to get a new goalie. It will be interesting to watch if they recruit a goalkeeper who is willing to take over as Moore’s backup or if they sign a player who will compete with Collins and Wilson, forcing one of the three to drop out of the starting lineup and take up Moore’s third-choice position.
