West Indies batter Thomas suspended for match-fixing
West Indies hitter Devon Thomas has been temporarily prohibited for match-fixing, the Worldwide Cricket Committee (ICC) declared on Tuesday.
Thomas, 33, who has spoken to his nation in all three groups, has been charged with breaching rules by three administering bodies.”The Worldwide Cricket Committee (ICC), on sake of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and the Caribbean Head Association (CPL), has charged West Indies player Devon Thomas with seven checks beneath their anti-corruption codes and he has been temporarily suspended with quick impact,” the ICC said.”Mr Thomas has 14 days from 23 May 2023 to reply to the charges,” it included.
Thomas, has been named within the West Indies’ squad for following month’s one-day arrangement with the UAE.
“CWI (Cricket West Indies) isn’t specifically included within the prepare but remains firm in censuring debasement in cricket, and completely bolsters the ICC ACU in its endeavors to maintain the keenness of the wear,” the body said.
“In collaboration with ICC and the West Indies Players’ Affiliation (WIPA), CWI remains committed to sensitizing and teaching our players and authorities on anti-corruption in sports,” it included.
