Vikings Sign TE Sammis Reyes After Tryout
EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings have added tight end Sammis Reyes to their roster following his participation in last weekend’s rookie minicamp on a trial basis.
Reyes, hailing from Talcahuano, Chile, is joining Minnesota through the International Player Pathway (IPP) program, allowing the team to exceed the offseason roster limit of 90 players.
In 2021, Reyes made his NFL debut with Washington, appearing in 11 games with one start. Notably, he became the first Chilean-born player to compete in an NFL game on October 10, 2021. During his time with Washington, Reyes logged 39 offensive snaps and 145 on special teams.
After a stint on the Bears’ practice squad in 2022 and a brief tenure with the Jaguars in May 2023, Reyes initially retired last August. However, he decided to return to the game and earned another opportunity after catching the eye of Vikings coaches during the recent minicamp.
Reyes’s journey to football began on the basketball court, attending various institutions before concluding his college career at Loyola University in Louisiana.
