Cameron, a Republican, made history as Kentucky’s first Black attorney general. He served a single term before opting to challenge Democratic incumbent Andy Beshear for the governorship, a bid he lost by a significant margin in the November general election.

The nonprofit’s press release highlighted Cameron’s achievements as attorney general as factors contributing to his appointment, such as leading a multi-state investigation into Bank of America, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, and Wells Fargo regarding ESG-related investments.
